| Perhaps the best book for accurate and
complete descriptions. The downside of this book is that it
only covers about 75% of the county's churches, including
them on historical and architectural merit. What it does
cover, it covers very well.
Again, as with Pevsner, if you are serious about understanding our county's churches, you must have this book! N.B. Although I've included an affiliate link to the left, it may be cheaper to get this book direct from the Friends of Essex Churches.
