The belfry is mentioned in Pevsner's "The Buildings of England: Essex".

All Saints, Berners Roding Church - This view was made possible by a broken window. According to Andrew Barham's excellent book The Lost Parish Churches Of Essex, this church recently played host to a nesting barn owl, whose ferocity coupled with the stench of bird droppings discouraged all but the most intrepid visitors.
