This SE view of St James is one of the closest that can be
taken from the nearby roads.

The S side of the church. The lovely Julie poses for us in
front of the chancel.
The churchyard, or, at least, the Church of England part of
it, is in a rather dilapidated state. It is a shame, as there have been some
recent (1997) burials here.

For me, the tower is the best feature of the exterior.
Although only erected in 1883, it is a beautiful structure, and sets off the
whole church admirably.

The S side of the church. Nigel, the new owner of St James',
told me that this plant covering the wall is wisteria. It must look lovely with
it's cascading lilac blooms.

Placed at the
top of a hill overlooking the Thames, St James is another private residence. It
is, however, a smart looking one, and is still easily visible from the passing
road. The church is essentially C14, with a later West tower.

The tower was added to the church in 1883. The clock does
still work, but is however, disabled, due to the lack of bells connected to the
chime assembly.
