All Saints, Berners Roding Church - If the above image is compared with the one under the
postcards tab, reproduced from Andrew Barham's excellent website, it is clear
that the whole W end of the church has, at some time, been removed. The belfry
is mentioned in Pevsner's "The Buildings of England: Essex".

All Saints, Berners Roding Church -

This view was made possible by a broken window. According to
Andrew Barham's excellent book The Lost Parish Churches Of Essex, this church
recently played host to a nesting barn owl, whose ferocity coupled with the
stench of bird droppings discouraged all but the most intrepid visitors.

The glimpse through the E window shows a peculiar door at the
end of the church. Quite what this door is doing, I am unsure, as the other side
of it is a blank wall.
