From the church's own guide (reproduced by kind permission of the author): Built of Kentish Ragstone with some flint in the nave, the South wall of the nave is the earliest part, probably dating from the 12th century. The Chancel is 14th century, and was subsequently lengthened, which may well have been in the early 15th century, when a north sacristry (vestry) was added. The present vestry was rebuilt in the mid 19th century.

All Saints, Barling Church - From the church's own guide:
The tower, with it's embattled parapet, was added in the early
15th century. The short, shingled spire is modern in comparison, though it was
mentioned by Philip Morant in his 'History of Essex' (1768).
