St Peter & St Paul, Hockley Church - These pictures were taken on 28th December 2003, just as the light was beginning to fade. The floodlights had just come on, as can be seen at the base of the tower.

The majority of this church dates from C13, with the exception
of the ogee-headed W doorway, visible in the next image, which was as a result
of the 1842 restoration.

This is a rather unusual W tower, starting as a square tower with angle buttresses at its base, then becoming an irregular hexagon for its upper part. It is embattled and crowned by a recessed spire.

Internal Images

St Peter & St Paul, Hockley Church - This shot of the interior was taken through the east window, looking in above the altar. The four-bay arcade leading into a narrow N aisle can be seen to the right of the picture.

The triangularly-headed door at the W end sits within a ogee-shaped W doorway.
